Every bird identification includes common and scientific name, key field marks, habitat and range, seasonal presence, and conservation status. Many results also include field recordings from xeno-canto so you can learn to recognize each species by its song and calls.
For a better identification
- Capture the whole bird when possible — beak shape, wing bars, and tail pattern are all key field marks.
- A photo showing the bird's profile and its underside helps distinguish similar species.
- Note the habitat and behavior (ground-feeding, perching, wading) to narrow the identification.
- Pair the photo with the field recordings in the app to confirm the species by sound.
